The Industrial Wastewater Service is dedicated to protect the City's wastewater treatment plants by regulating industrial wastes that are discharged to the City's sanitary sewer system. It administers and enforces the Clean Water Act in conjunction with State and Federal regulations, as well as City of Houston Ordinance, Chapter 47, Section V, (Disposal of Industrial Wastes through City Sewer System). 

Objectives

•    Protect the City of Houston’s wastewater collection systems, treatment plants and workers
•    Maintain water quality in the bayous in the City of Houston
•    Promote the beneficial use of bio-solids and treated wastewater (e.g., use good sludge for land application)
